StavePuzzleNuts.com

Okay PuzzleNuts - Week one of the game is finished and Raul is the official winner with an amazing 36 points! Don't despair - he can still play, but he can't win again for 90 days, so you all have plenty of chances to win a puzzle.

It's on to week two! Steve has thrown in new piece designs and is using the images of Scott Gustafson - one of my FAVORITE artists!

As of this posting - the current low score is 47. Good Luck!

(below is my original discussion)

Hi to All PuzzleNuts,

As you can see June has given you the official link to play the real Match the Pieces game. I have played a few times and have to admit that you guys are way better than I am!!!! I can't believe that the low score for the week so far is 43! What??? How do you do that?

When you play you may realize that it takes a second for the image to load when you start the next round - during this the clock is ticking. I mentioned this to Steve yesterday - cuz' my score was really high and of course I had to find someone to blame. He told me, "Tough noogie, I'm the Chief Tormentor and I must be doing my job if you feel Tormented!" BooHoo! He's right, of course, but he did promise to take a look at it. Even still - this game is really fun!

Hi. Here's the link to the game for convenience!! You know you're getting old when.......you can't click fast enough on a computer game to get some decent points ---which is what's happening with moi. Love the game, though! Tx Paula. June

Grrrr... so frustrating. i KNOW i can do better. I know I can, I know I can....

on a side note... I was looking so hard at the pieces that I wasn't noticing the puzzle. So for those interested, here is a link to the prints used in the game.

1. Voyage of the Basset by James C. Christensen

2. Frog Prince by Scott Gustafson

3. Sharing Our Light by James C. Christensen

4. Tom Thumb by Scott Gustafson

Are you the Tammy and Joe with scores of 41 on this game? I'm Elizabeth. Thanks for posting the links to the prints of the complete puzzles used in the game! It's great to see them in full---and with the time to linger over them a bit!

I'm just wondering if anybody has thought about the issue of the type of device used to play this game and the ways in which that affects the score. I've been using an ordinary mouse, and I don't believe it's possible to complete the game much faster without using a more specialized device, such as a touch-screen device with lots of sensitivity, accuracy and speed (any number of such devices exist, now). I find it ironic that a person who can afford to buy such a specialty device is also the person who can complete this game the fastest and therefore win the puzzle: ostensibly, the point of winning a puzzle is not having to pay for it; a person who can purchase such a device can also afford to purchase a puzzle in the first place. Therein lies my frustration. Let the poor folks who can't afford to buy a puzzle (or a high-tech touch-screen device)---and therefore have to win one---have a chance, I say.

On a more positive (and less political/Socialist) note, I love this game! It's so much fun to play; I've enjoyed it immensely. Thanks to whomever created it. I just hope I can win one of these weeks, even with my old-fashioned equipment! :)

Hi Elizabeth,

Wow! aren't you the one with 39 points???? How can you be so sure that anyone is using touch screen hi techy stuff when you have such a fantastic score using "old-fashioned equipment". I say that is pretty darn impressive. The best score I could get was 130, and that was down from 190!! Maybe your line is more high speed than mine, but I'm not sure we can control things like this.
Don't worry - we'll be doing the game for several weeks and the rules are you can only win once in 90 days.

Happy Playing, Paula

Wow, Paula, thanks for your speedy reply! Yes, I'm the Elizabeth with a score of 39. Thanks for the compliment! You have a point: of course I can't be absolutely certain of my statement---it's a speculation. Still, I feel pretty sure of that, based on my own playing and my observation of others. But you're right!---I can't know for sure. And of course I understand that Stave can't control that stuff. I don't mean to complain about Stave's policy, by any means. I just meant to introduce the idea and the point. I feel very positively about this, and it's such fun, and we'll see if I can win one! :)

Thanks again for your thoughtful response, Paula,

Elizabeth
