I'll Be Seeing You, Out of the Blue, Peaceable Kingdom, Ladybug Ladybug, Jonah And The Whale, Pull My Strings and Metamorphosis
Meet other Puzzle Nuts near you by telling us what town and state you're in.
Winter Park, FL
Which puzzles are on your wish list?
Give Me A Buzz, Light My Fire, Tweet Re-Leaf, Seaing Stars, Nuts To You, Made In The Shade, When Nature Calls, Butterfly Chase, English Garden, Loop de Loop, Nessie, Venice Byways, Fred and Ginger, a traditional (Crown Jewels) and eventually work our way up to a Limited Edition.
When and where do you puzzle?
At home year round but not to often because we don't have the will power to stay away once we've started one and the honeydew list begins to grow while we are working on it.
What got you into Stave Puzzles?
The report about Stave Puzzles on the CBS Sunday Morning show.
Tips for solving Stave Puzzles: Want to share?
No tips wanted or given here. That would spoil the ah-ha moment of relief and joy when you finally figure out that part you've been staring at for the last hour. It would also spoil the chance to jokingly curse the Stave staff for their deceptively devious designs. (Of course we still haven't tried a 4 sword or 5 bolt puzzle. We might be begging for a tip/hint then. Although I like to think we won't)
About me: Interests, fave books and music etc
Anything to do with nature. To me nothing beats sitting beside a stream and listening to the water, wind through the trees and watching birds and animals moving about. There is always something new and exciting just around the next curve in the path.

Sorry about the mix-up with Barb's id...apparently Barb hadn't signed out and I neglected to sign in.
YouTube has some great examples of nyckelharpa musicians...you would find that there are many different styles. Tunes vary in "flavor" according to the region of Sweden they originate in. I favor "uppland" music which is uplifting and melodic...the polska example you heard is not one that I would choose to learn, (if I could!) The recordings of Sahlstrom, Hedlund, and Elin & Edvard are examples of music I enjoy. I've just been playing for seven years and am lucky if anyone would consider me an intermediate.
Do either of you play an instrument?

Hi, Tammy & Joe...
A nyckelharpa is a stringed, keyed musical instrument that predates the violin...you could see one at the American Nyckelharpa Assoc. site at www.nyckelharpa.org. Traditional dances include polska (not to be confused with polka), schottische, polkette.
I should get some photos of my birds on this site...will work on that!

Joe,

No, I didn't know and I think I'm crestfallen.

You're telling me they're capricious? Perhaps a little finicky? Uppity? There are two perfectly acceptable porches and tons of trees.

At least the camera is portable just in case they/she ever decide(s) one of the porches is good enough. I have an extensive photo essay of nest-building through the moment they flew away last year. I wanted another. Drat,

Is there wren bait?

No such luck, I'm afraid. I guess I could sell the cat.

Thanks for the information, I think. No, really. Thanks.

Hello Tammy and Joe :) I was just wondering if you would like to meet up on Sunday , July 12. It is the only Sunday that I would be able to meet up on this month due to the fact that the following Sunday I have family coming to visit and then the Sunday after I already have plans made. Just let me know if that will work for you or not and then we can figure out any details afterwards. You can contact me at this email address : marks1993@bellsouth.net
Hopefully we'll be able to set something up ! :)

My wrens didn't nest in the eves this year. They've been around and began a nest but abandoned it. Wrong breeze? I like that better than any alternative.

I missed them.

Hi Tammy and Joe. =) Thanks for keeping me posted. Pretty much any Sunday this month should work. I'm not going on a vacation this summer so I'll most likely just be hanging around. If you have a particular day in mind just let me know and we can work it out. Talk to you soon,

How is carving a pumpkin and assembling a Stave puzzle alike? They are both entertaining to do and yet frustratingly hard. We hadn't carved pumpkins the last couple of years and forgotten just how hard it can be. But we did have a blast doing the…

A Gathering of Nuts

PuzzleNuts that is.

Tammy and I had the pleasure of meeting with fellow PuzzleNut Noelle yesterday. Gathering our collection of little blue boxes, we set off for a day of puzzling at a local bookstore-coffee shop. Noelle, working alone, completed 3 of our puzzles, while Tammy and I worked together to complete 2 of hers. I believe she (Noelle) has a future as a Stave puzzle tester. It was a great afternoon, filled with coffee, baked-goods, challenging puzzles and Stave camaraderie.
