Yo Riccardo: Hey, this puzzle is so difficult (thanks to you) that anyone will get credit if they can fit all the pieces into the park so that one of the dogs fits into the peg holes.... Go for it!

Congratulations on finally getting an alternate solution to the one I intended. You have paid the price for suggesting this type of arrangement with pop-up dogs connecting two different sections. Without your clever idea this puzzle would have been…

OK, OK, I admit that our 1-5 rating of Trick puzzles is a bit dated. If Champ is 4 bolts then Fred & Ginger should be much higher than a 5, maybe a 9. Same with Bark In The Park which is proving to be way more difficult than I had planned, maybe an…

HI Erik, OK, I'm going to do it right now. I'm going to post to my blog the photo Martha took of you and me during lunch at The Claremont in Berkely last month. We've only been back a little more than a week and things have been crazy here... but no…

What's your favorite puzzle and why?
My favorite puzzle is "A Midsummer Night's Dream" even though I didn't design it. I love the artwork, the colors, the use of negative space and the two layers and how the mesh with each other.
When and where do you puzzle?
I find it very therapeutic to retreat to my studio, watch three different channels on TV, listen to NPR, and read the Wall Street Journal, all while I hover over my permanent puzzle table.
What got you into Stave Puzzles?
Well, My wife and I were living in New Jersey. We just got tired of the everyday city life and decided to move our family to the Vermont - New Hampshire area. After being laid off from a computer programming job my friend - Dave Tibbets - and I dabbled in children's games and board puzzles. We placed an ad in a Boston paper and were approached by a wonderful man asking if we could create a wooden jigsaw puzzle for him. The rest is history!

Grand Finale... Twin Farms Puzzlenut Party 2007

Ya shoulda been there!!! Late yesterday afternoon around 4:45 it was wrap-up time.... time to bring the 2 days of puzzling madness to a close. During these wild 2 days we rewarded correct answers to the various mystery challenges with poker chips.... 100, 1000, 5000 denominations. Three of the teams had accumulated nearly 100,000 worth of chips. Paula had the brilliant idea of auctioning off 4 Teaser puzzles, the players using their accumulated chips. So everyone took 5 minutes to divide their t… Continue

Yesterday the room was packed with about 30 of us, including Paula, Jennifer and me. Hi Steve: I just wanted to say I've been collecting Stave Puzzles for about 12 years now, and have just received Time Traveler; so imagine my surprise when I spent half the evening shaking my head over a 4-inch Cab (Cabbie Conundrum). Unbelievable! Many thanks, Ron. ;-)

Hi Steve, I completed (Metamorphosis) my first trick puzzle a while back and just wanted to say... I was impressed with Stave puzzles before but now I am amazed as well. The trick puzzle method blows me away. Can't wait to try my next one. Of course the only thing harder then solving a Stave trick puzzle is deciding which one to get. Thanks Stave.

Steve, I hope Paula told you how very much I loved the sweet VT treats you sent to me!! It was a delightful surprise & wonderful treat... as a Canadian, I enjoy MAPLE above almost all other flavors. So I am cautiously meting out the candies to myself, and will have pancakes on the weekend with the syrup!! :-) Thank you again, what a complete surprise & lovely thank you from you & the Stave team. hugs, Kathy.

Hi Steve,
Got Caddie Conundrum and was working on one of the four solutions yesterday. You'll be pleased to know that I haven't yet been successful with this one passenger. I was successful, however, in our cabbie driving one passenger with all of her stuff. And, imagine my surprise (urg!!!) when I found this trick-like puzzle (with its four solutions) also has a teaser feature. Congrats on this new series of puzzling!

Some random thoughts to the Chief Tormentor:

1. I like the new website, like others hope the glitches are short-lived.
2. Cleaned out a closet as I needed more room for all the blue boxes I now have. (At least Goodwill will have a number of family board games for their clients or sale.)
3. Pheasantly Pleasing -- yes, aspirin is definitely in use!
4. The staff at Stave is wonderful; always pleasant, helpful, and based on comments received back to me, they read and take to heart the remarks on the puzzle points cards.
5. Guess I need to stop stalling and returning to PP

Hi Steve,
I was wondering if there is a formal process for getting new artists involved with designing for Stave. I've got a friend that teaches in my district that I'm going to share some puzzles with. He sells a lot of work through local craft fairs, but I'd think he would design a fantastic puzzle. That's of course if I can convince him and IF Stave is taking new submissions.

PS - You were right about "Pull My Strings". It's funny how some things can be simultaneously beautiful and brutal.

Hi Steve, A good friend of Dave's, Steve DeWick said something about an accident. I hope I'm not dreaming this. Would he rather paint or fish? Hmmm.
Incidentally, I gave the Jonah the Whale puzzle I won in a drawing last June to my son for Christmas. We visited him in Munich where he is on a Fulbright teaching exchange for the year. As usual, he does any puzzle I give him in about 10 minutes. This is frustrating because it takes me much longer. Be well. Bill Lucas

Wow! The Chief himself got a giggle out of my clown footprint! I'm awed. But really, thanks for the great contests, and the comment will get framed with my pic, even if I don't win. There are some nice entries! Have fun with the judging.

Steve,
Where in New Jersey were you living before you moved to New England? I grew up in Oakland and my wife grew up in Ramsey.
