I recently had the chance to puzzle "
Florence" art by Sonia Menna Barreto, a traditional Stave puzzle. The theme of the image is shown here in the Stave catalog:
The traditional puzzle I did had on the order of 200 pieces. This was a fun puzzle to work because the imagery lends itself to whimsy and also confusing jigsawing. Books-within-books-on-books-within-pages.
Lots of excellent cutting work by the crafters at Stave, for example whimsical silhouettes of chairs, with people sitting in them as a 2nd silhouette, etc.
The most interesting aspect of this particular one was that some of the imagery from the center of the puzzle was digitally "copied" to make an overflowing edge area that made puzzling the harder (extra repeating images) and more beautiful. (Picture on my flckr site:

Great work Stave gang and an excellent reminder of what makes Stave traditionals so much fun.
