This puzzle was apparently originally designed in 1975 and the artwork is uncredited. (
Anybody at Stave know who did the work?). While classified as a teaser puzzle, this quite honestly could please a traditional puzzle lover and might disappoint a teaser lover since everything goes together as a traditional puzzle.
For me, it was wonderful to have the opportunity to puzzle this one. Lots of fun state trivia and if you have/had young kids around it could be a great learning experience. In that sense, I very much liked the educational aspect and think this could be an excellent classroom addition (
How about licensing the image for laser-cutting this one so schools could afford it? [see Puzzle Cut with a Frickin' Laser].)
And if you are stuck there's always help a Google search away? (Unlike the Stave gang, no M&M bribes demanded for help ;)
Anyhow, a nice puzzle, not one I would have bought, but I think a good one to consider if you (a) like traditionals, (b) want to get some young'ens involved in puzzling or (c) just love Americana.
