StavePuzzleNuts.com

Hi PuzzleNuts, My good friend Ted just alerted me to two Stave Limited Editions currently listed on Ebay. One is Mid-Summer Night's Dream the other is Noah's Ark. Noah's is sold out! As of this posting the current bid on each is 99 cents!!! I think they are 10 day listings with no reserve. They were crafted in 1989 and 1988 respectively. Just to be clear - Stave has absolutely nothing to do with these listings - I just wanted you all to know of this opportunity to own a sold out LE.

So why are you still reading this? Go check them out.
:-)
Cheers, Paula

Hey PuzzleNuts - I just wanted to point out to those of you that are even CONSIDERING bidding on KaSC (now on eBay) that when Stave first designed this puzzle - and for all the time that we have crafted it - it was supposed to have 625 pieces. The puzzle that is listed has over 800!! And in doing some research it seems that all the ones we have crafted previous have been about the same. This puzzle is a steal! Yesterday I posted that the full price is $6,895 - but next time we advertise it you can bet that it will be higher than that. And don't forget it's a four bolt trick. Paula

A one of a kind Stave puzzle?

Listed on e-bay a puzzle titled "The 3 R's" from Sept. of '81. Looks like it has Steve's initials on the clown also.

click here for link to it.

Hi Tammy & Joe - I've seen some of Joe Lilly's puzzles on eBay in the past. He is deceased now and some of his puzzles went to charity and some, I think, went to family. He was a great person - he and Steve were friendly for years. At the time this puzzle was crafted we were using the original New Yorker covers (or whatever image was being crafted), so whatever the paper size was that was the size of the puzzle. Most of the images we offer now (except for Tricks and Teasers) come to us in digital form, we size according to what has been ordered and print the image right here.

If I can answer any questions about the puzzle or Mr. Lilly's collection le me know.

Erik - this is exactly how I bid on items on eBay - I'm a sniper. :-)

Paula, I checked the New Yorker Online store and saw that the may 23 1977 cover is still available. Do you guys still get covers from it? If you don't, I'm thinking I'm thinking I'd buy it from the New Yorker Online, if Stave can't get it, and having the actual print be cut by Stave (not a copy of it) to make a puzzle. I collect K12 education related puzzles and this cover dates back to decade I hadn't watched carefully in this magazine. I think I'd rather have the pieces personalized to my tastes and also get a more recent digital print of the cover, which might last more years.......at least that's what I'd value and how I consider whether to buy off of ebay.

Hi June - great question! Siince we now reproduce images and print them here everything we offer is under a licensing contract. We do not currently have licensing with the New Yorker (although we should). BUT! If you buy the magazine you own the cover (or the one that's on that magazine anyway). You, then, can do with it whatever you please - frame it, throw darts at it, use it as a napkin, or make it into a puzzle.
